We consistently provide competitive, timely and predictable underwriting service through effective communication between underwriting teams and field offices and strong relationships with our reinsurance partners. We recently increased our retention limit to $5,000,000 on a standard risk up to age 85. This will enable us to underwrite and approve more cases without the need to involve our reinsurance partners – meaning faster service to you.

As part of our commitment to serve you, we utilize a number of special services to assist you with your underwriting needs:

• Large Case Underwriting Unit
  Penn Mutual has expanded its Large Case Unit to now include two very experienced underwriters to handle your largest cases. Cases with $10,000,000 of death benefit or $100,000 of annual premium are handled by this unit with only the highest quality of service.
• Special Underwriting for STAR Producers
  If you qualify as a STAR Producer, all of your life applications will receive the priority service provided by the Large Case Unit.
• Tele-underwriting
  Penn Mutual recently announced the availability of tele-underwriting; a special service whereby the medical information is obtained via a phone interview rather than the more traditional face to face interview. This new process brings the information to the underwriter quicker, enabling faster turnaround on your cases.
• On-line Case Status
  You can now obtain status on your life cases via Producer’s Place on the PML Web site 24/7. This provides you with up to date case status at your convenience.
• Enhanced On-line Forms
  You now have the ability to complete all Penn Mutual application forms using Laser Apps and your contact management software. In addition, you can log on to Producer’s Place and use our forms management system to identify the specific forms you need to make a particular product sale in a specific state.
